Ingredients
3 Cups All Purpose Flour (sifted)
2 Sticks of Butter (at room temperature)
2 Large Eggs (at room temperature)
1 Bag 12 oz Bag of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1 Cup White Sugar
1 Cup Brown Sugar (light is preferred but dark is fine)
1/2 Tbsp Corn Starch
1 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Tsp Baking Soda
1 Tsp Sea Salt
1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
Instructions
Bring butter and eggs to room temperature
Turn Oven to 350 degrees and put the rack in the middle section
Add dry ingredients to a medium bowl and whisk then set to the side
Dry ingredients are flour, corn starch, sea salt, baking soda, and baking powder
Add both sticks of butter, 1 cup white sugar, and 1 cup brown sugar to the mixing bowl, then cream*
*cream is just a fancy word for mixing!
Add eggs and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and combine
Slowly add dry ingredients and mix JUST until combined. Do not mix more than you need; this will make the cookies too tough!
Add in Chocolate Chips and mix JUST until combined!
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Using a cookie or ice cream scoop, form dough balls and arrange them onto baking sheet
Bake cookies for 10 -12 minutes until the edges are brown and the middle of the cookie is set
I flip the baking sheet halfway through
Let rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and rest for another 5 minutes
I might be biased in this statement, but if I were banished to a remote island and I could only bring one sweet treat with me, it would be these chocolate chip cookies. Growing up in St. Louis, my mom would cook chocolate chip cookies almost every single Sunday night to go along with our Sunday dinner, but she would always use the recipe on the back of the Nestle bag. Taking some inspiration from that and some other recipes I have used over the years, this is what has always delivered the best results (in my opinion, obviously).
When talking about ingredients for Chocolate Chip Cookies, the two things that shine the most when you use higher quality ingredients is the butter and the Chocolate Chips. The brands that I prefer to use is Kerrygold for the butter (duh) and Guittard Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips.
Have fun baking, my friends.
